The Lowndes County Friends of the Civil Rights Movement are planning an enjoyable, memorable and historical experience in learning about the rich history that this county played in the Civil Rights Movement of 1965. There are several activities scheduled, such as the mass meeting program, touring the historical sites, paying homage to our unsung heroes of Lowndes County and ending the weekend with a celebration reunion picnic.
Our unsung heroes are the persons ‘who bored the burden in the heat of the day’ by making sacrifices in getting people to register to vote. assisting those families evicted from the plantations and lived in Tent City and those who faced injustices during this era.
The Fourth Annual Celebration of the Lowndes County Civil Rights Movement will be held April 20 – 22, 2018 in White Hall, Alabama.
We look forward to seeing all of you, so make plans to attend!!
